Leeman Field RV Park and Campground is a 21 site, full hook-up campground in Pennington Gap, Virginia. Located in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains, the campground offers scenic views year-round. Access to the adjacent Leeman Field Park and nearby Stone Mountain ATV Trail offers campers a host of outdoor recreational activities. The campground’s close proximity to downtown Pennington Gap allows for a short trip to all the town’s local shops, restaurants, and entertainment. A one-hour drive from the campground will give you the opportunity to explore a range of places in Eastern Tennessee, Eastern Kentucky, or Southwest Virginia. Sites and Amenities:

The campground offers 21 sites with two pull-throughs available and accommodates up to a 45′ motor home. Each site offers 30/50 amp service with full hook-up water and sewer. If you would prefer to sleep in a tent, primitive and on-site tents are available to rent. Restrooms and showers are available. The nearby pavilion allows for group meetups. In addition to free WiFi service at the campground, the area is served by Verizon and AT&T cell service. Additional amenities include picnic tables, horseshoe pits, and pets allowed. There is also easy access to the adjacent Leeman Field Park, which includes it’s own set of amenities such as a seasonal pool and playgrounds. A full list of amenities is available below:

Leeman Field:

The campground allows for easy access to Leeman Field, the town’s 33-acre park. Although once the biggest enclosed baseball field in the world, the park now offers a range of facilities including a seasonal swimming pool, playgrounds, horse ring and stables, baseball fields, basketball and tennis courts, volleyball pit, picnic pavilions, amphitheater, and 18-hole disc golf course. The park also includes the 1.4 mile Greenway walking trail which connects it to the Riverbend Shopping Center. The shopping center includes Food City, El Centenario (Mexican restaurant), and Hong Kong Buffet (Chinese restaurant).

On designated summer weekends, Leeman Field hosts a variety of events including ATV Drag Races, Cumberland Horse Association Riding Competitions, and Lee Tractor Association Tractor Pulls. The park also hosts the annual Lee County Fair each August. In addition, the park hosts a variety of holiday festivities and celebrations throughout the year. One example is the annual Town of Pennington Gap Independence Day Celebration which features all-day events and live musical performances. Staying at the campground during these times puts you in the middle of the action at Leeman Field.

Stone Mountain ATV Trail:

Just at the end of the road of the campground is the trailhead for the Stone Mountain ATV Trail, which is a part of the Spearhead Trails system. It features 34 miles of track over 500 acres of land. Riders must have the appropriate helmets and a permit for the trail. To make a reservation, please call (276) 298-5177. 30 amp services are $25 per night, and 50 amp services are $30 per night. Primitive tents are available to rent for $10 per night and campsite tents for $15 per night. The welcome center pavilion is also available to rent for $100 for 8 hours. All of these prices are before tax. Passport America discounts are also honored Sunday-Wednesday.
