Utility Service Application

Required for new services of water, sewer, including in-town garbage pick-up. Requires the attachment of photo ID and deposit payment. Call for information on deposit and how to complete the form and supply the ID copy.

Sales Permit-Farmer’s Market, Yard or Vendor

All sales in town require a permit or business license.

Sales of produce or hand crafted items can be conducted at the Farmer’s Market location at 42280 E. Morgan Ave. on any day, however, sales of other items, such as yard sales can only be at the Farmer’s Market on the first Saturday of the month through October. Sales of farm products require a seasonal permit of $30 or one day permit of $10. First Saturdays are $5 at the site and $10 covered site.

Yard sales at any other location must be on your property or written permission from the owner and require a yard sale permit. $10 permits allow 3 yard sales per year.

Vendor’s license allow for farm products or items such as fireworks and other than yard sales to vend at locations approved by owners in town.

Town hiring two seasonal Public Works Crewmen

Position Description: Under general supervision, performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled work including but not limited to sanitation, grounds maintenance, town facilities cleaning and sanitizing, town equipment maintenance and cleaning. Job Description: 

This job is open to both certified and non-certified police officers. We will be offering a $4,000 sign-on bonus (with stipulations).  

Police officers perform a variety of law enforcement duties that may vary depending upon assignment within the Police Division. In discharging responsibilities, the police officer must exercise sound judgment in emergencies and must apply his/her knowledge of policing techniques and practices and federal, state, and local laws while protecting lives and property. Duties may include but are not limited to: patrols specific area in a police vehicle; arrest, process, and escort of prisoners to jail; issue summonses and warnings for traffic violations; maintains crowd and traffic control as needed; properly prepare and present court cases; administer first aid treatment as needed; investigate suspicious activities, drug and narcotic offenses, and other criminal activities; performs related work as assigned. 


  • Preference will be given to applicants with current Virginia Law Enforcement Certification.
  • Must be 21 years of age, High School Graduate/GED, Must possess a valid Virginia Operator’s License by date of hire, Must be a United States Citizen to participate in the hiring process, 

Non-certified applicants will be required to pass a physical fitness evaluation.

A pre-employment drug screen and extensive background check will be required prior to the offer of employment.

Sanitation Schedule Change

Our in-town trash service has a schedule change. Until further notice, we will begin pick-up on the daily route at 7:00 AM and the daily route will be finished by 10 AM. We will service the entire route as usual but early, so make sure you have your trash curbside early! Businesses will be serviced early as well. Thank you.

Hiring two part-time Public Works crewmen

The town will be hiring 2 part-time public works crewman. Applications are in our documents here or beside our door in a metal box at 528 Industrial. Fill one out and drop in our drop box at the curb or mail to 528 Industrial Dr. before the end of the day, May 29.

Zoning Application

A zoning application must be submitted and approved before building, additions, fencing, storage buildings, signs etc. or related changes are made to your in-town property. Please have a copy of the plat of your property on hand to submit for review with this process.
